Take a trial flight in a Cessna 172: Your first step as a pilot

Ever wondered what it’s like to fly an airplane yourself? During our trial flight, you’ll get the chance to take the controls of a Cessna 172 and experience flying under the guidance of an experienced instructor. This is not just a sightseeing flight, but an educational adventure where you’ll discover the fundamentals of aviation.

What to expect?

Every trial flying lesson departs from Teuge Airport, near Apeldoorn. The pilot explains how the aircraft works, which instruments you’ll use, and what you’ll be doing during the flight. Meanwhile, you take your place in the cockpit and get hands‑on yourself. The pilot guides you step by step, allowing you to experience what it’s like to fly an aircraft safely and with confidence.

You can choose from three different packages:

20 minutes: A short introduction in which you learn the first basic steps of flying.

40 minutes: More time to practice and become familiar with the controls.

60 minutes: An extended trial lesson that truly gives you the chance to experience what it’s like to be a pilot.

During the flight, you can bring up to two additional passengers, provided the total weight does not exceed 240 kg. This way, they can witness your first steps as a pilot up close.

How it works

After your purchase, you will automatically receive a digital voucher with a unique code in your inbox. The voucher includes instructions on how to book your trial flight. It is valid for one year, giving you plenty of time to plan your first flight experience.

A first step towards your pilot’s license

At Special Air Services, we offer courses that enable you to obtain your official pilot’s license. This way, your first experience in the Cessna 172 becomes not only an unforgettable memory, but also the beginning of a journey towards flying an aircraft independently. Our instructors guide you step by step, so you can grow with confidence and enjoyment from student to pilot.

CO2 offsetting

Would you like to make your flight climate-conscious? You can choose to offset the CO2 emissions of your flight through GreenCarbon. They invest in local projects that actively reduce CO2. The contribution depends on the duration of your flight:

20 minutes: € 3,33

40 minutes: € 6,67

60 minutes: € 10,00

This additional option can easily be arranged at the counter on the day of your flight.

Good to know

• For flights on weekends and public holidays, a surcharge of €25 per flight applies.
• A small fuel surcharge may apply in the event of significant price increases.
• The mentioned times are block times: the period between starting and shutting down the engine.
• The maximum combined weight of all passengers may not exceed 240 kg (excluding the pilot). Furthermore, anyone who joins the flight cannot weight more than 110 kg.
• The minimum age to sit in the front next to the pilot is 8 years, provided that an adult accompanies the flight from the back seat.
• “The minimum height to sit in the front next to the pilot is 1.20 meters.
• The pilot handles the safe takeoff and landing of the aircraft.
• De mogelijkheid tot het besturen van het vliegtuig is tijdens nagenoeg alle vluchten mogelijk. De veiligheid van jou, de piloot en mensen op de grond staat echter altijd voorop. Wanneer weersomstandigheden, drukte in de lucht of ongeschiktheid van de deelnemer het niet toelaten om de besturing veilig over te dragen, kan de piloot besluiten het vliegtuig zelf te blijven besturen.
• This activity depends on weather conditions and fire patrol flights. If your flight cannot take place, you can easily reschedule within the validity period of your voucher.
